PRESS RELEASE

Farming and the Countryside in Miniature : an exhibition of models

Visitors will be transported to a world in miniature at Alford Heritage Museum on Sunday 3rd September.

Enthusiasts, collectors and model makers will be displaying their collections and work in the form of miniature agricultural models and scenes. These will include Marmond steam models; John Deere and other tractors and farm machinery; lorries and farm models; and a diorama of farm buildings.

Thomas Jackson, Chair of Alford and District Heritage Museum explained: “We felt that the Mart was the ideal venue for these fascinating model displays which show agricultural life as it used to be. In some cases, visitors will be able to see both the miniature models beside the full scale versions of the objects in our collection. The auction ring and Mart building is a fitting setting for this and we hope to attract some new visitors for this special event”.

The museum collections will be open as normal throughout the event and admission tickets cover both the models and the museum visit.

Event: Sunday 3rd September 2023 between 12 noon and 4pm.
