Preserving the rich heritage of Alford and Donside for future generations

Hamewith Concerts at Alford Heritage Museum

The Alford Heritage Museum hosts the ‘Hamewith Concert’ annually. This is an opportunity for primary and secondary pupils in the Alford area to showcase their talents for music and reciting poetry.  The concert is named after the poem ‘Hamewith’, by local poet Charles Murray. Although the poems recited are not all by Murray, they are all in Doric. Doric is the dialect of Scots, spoken in the north east of Scotland.

The concert dates for 2023 are Thursday 28th September and Friday 29th September at 7PM. Admission is FREE. There will be a raffle and refreshments.
