Stories Fae the Howe Community Project

Stories Fae the Howe started out as a Doric storytelling project based at Alford Heritage Centre, funded by Aberdeenshire Council. The project worked with various groups within the community of Alford to create an audio resource of short films featuring stories told in Doric. Some of the films were based on traditional tales such as Hamish the Heilander and Silly Jack! Other films were more anecdotal in nature, featuring personal stories related to life on the land. You can watch all the films on the Stories Fae the Howe YouTube Channel – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCh-0d3coDHWOtf99AUj3HPQ   Or simply type in ‘Stories Fae the Howe’ in the search box and they should all appear. Enjoy!

Although the project officially ended in October 2018 various people who were involved wanted to carry on – so we did!

Spring 2019

Several of the participants got involved in creating films for the inaugural Doric Film Festival run by Scots Radio and The Doric Board.  The Alford community submitted five films and although none of them made it into the top slots we had great fun making them.  You can view our efforts on the Stories Fae the Howe YouTube Channel.

On-going
